Azadi Tower

How can we talk about Tehran and not say anything about Azadi Tower! This tower is the symbol of Tehran. According to the tower's architect, the tower was designed to depict the Iranians ingenuity. At first, the tower was called Shahiad but after the islamic revolution of Iran, it was named Azadi Tower.The construction of the tower began in 1969, and after 28 months, it started working.The architecture of the tower is a combination of Achaemenid and Sassanid eras.The interior design of the tower is a combination of traditional and modern architecture, especially the ceiling of the second floor. Each of the entrance doors has a weight of about 3.5 tons. Doors are made of granite.The building consists of three floors with four elevators, two staircases and 286 stairs. In the basement of the tower there are several art galleries, libraries, museums and more.Azadi Tower is the best place to get familiar with Tehran customs and architecture.

 

Moghaddam Museum

Moghaddam Museum is one of the historic houses of Tehran which is considered to be one of the most popular places for domestic and foreign tourists due to its beautiful architecture and the special objects kept there.This antique house was one of the luxurious houses of the Qajar era and was owned by one of the courtiers of that era, named Mohammad Taghi Khan, Ehtesab al-Molk.Ehtesab al-Molk had two sons, Hassan and Mohsen, who went to Europe to study.Hassan was a scriptwriter and an activist and he died in the very flower of his youth.He has wrote the famous play of "Jafar Khan has come from Europe".His younger brother, Mohsen, returned to Iran after completing his studies in painting, art history and archeology fields and started living with his French wife, Solma, in his paternal home (which is called Moghadam Museum). Masoudieh Mansion

Negarestan Garden was built in 1807 and later Nezamieh Garden was built in the south of Negarestan Garden. This garden was bought by Zele Soltan and he added Masoudieh Mansion to the garden. The mansion was built in the western part of Nezamieh Mansion on a land of about 4000 square meters. This garden has 2 parts the exterior and the interior and has 7 buildings. Situated in the heart of Tehran's bustling city and next to Molavi Street, north of Shoush Square, there's a caravanserai which is more than 100 years old.The history of caravanserai dates back to Qajar period and is called "Khanat Caravanserai". In that time it was located outside the city on Shah Abdul Azim Road.The renovation of the caravanserai started in 2003 and finished in 2008. This building covers an area of about 10000 square meters and has 54 rooms and is made of brick.This caravanserai is open to the public and is a major tourist attraction.

Qasr Garden Museum

Dar-al Funun School

Mirza Mohammad Taqi Khan Farahani, known as Amir Kabir, was the prime minister of Iran for only six months but he made great changes during that time.One of the most important works, he had done was the establishment of Dar al-Funun, which opened a few days after Amir Kabir's death.The school was founded when Iranians were completely unaware of science and technology, and traditional medicine was not able to cure many ailments.Amir Kabir ordered the construction of a modern school, and most of its principals were top government officials.At the command of Amir Kabir, seven professors from Europe began teaching in Dar-al Funun.The building is located in the center of Tehran in Nasserkhosro Street and it's the best attraction of that neighborhood.The school had the first modern library and the first stone printing press which was originally used for printing school textbooks.The school is visited by many tourists every year.

 

Dr Mossadegh's Home

Dr. Mossadegh's name was engraved with the nationalization of the oil industry in Iran and he will certainly not be forgotten.Perhaps no one knows that Dr. Mossadegh's home is in Ahmadabad village of Alborz, a house dating back to the Qajar period.The house wad Dr. Mossadegh's maternal legacy and is located in the south of Ahmadabad village. In 1923, Colonel Ali Naqi Vaziri, a prominent iranian musician , established the High School of Music,and Abolhasan Saba studied in there.Since then Saba created a new style of playing the violin that exert considerable influence in Iranian music history.He believed that before that school, Iranians couldn't play violin well.When Saba was 22 years old, he became the best student of his school.After his death, his home was transformed into a museum on November 6, 2009.This house has five rooms, a basement and a small yard.Part of the museum is dedicated to his personal images, documents, and letters.The second part is the design of the museum which is unique.The third and final part of the museum belongs to the memorials of Mrs. Esfandiari, Saba's wife, who was the cousin of Nima Yushij( he was one of the best poets of Iran).This house is visited by several music lovers annually.

Cultural center of Golzar Shohada

Tochal Mountain
